Where Is Ready Rabbit
Ready, Set, RECRUIT! Meriden takes their goal of 757 Friends of Connecticut's Young Children very seriously and so does Ready Rabbit. He visited Meriden for the first time on August 23 as part of their "Back to School" event and helped Meriden recruit more than 100 new Friends in only 2 hours. Not a bad morning!
Among Meriden's ever growing list of Friends are their mayor, school superintendent, elementary school principal, state representative, city council respresentative, chamber of commerce leader, NAACP president and rotary president.
"We got to 43 friends with almost no effort," David Radcliffe, facilitator at Meriden Children First, modestly recounted in July. Since that time, Meriden has raised their number of Friends to more than 250.
Their "efforts" include:
- Inviting Ready Rabbit to a community event
- A recruitment message sent to their email list
- Coverage in the People's Press, a community "viewspaper" distributed to more than 20,000 people in Meriden and Wallingford
- Placement on the Meriden Chamber of Commerce's website with promised coverage in their newsletter.
- And, David says that he has "a handful of the RSG cards in my pocket that I give to people I see."
